Hiking Cabin Creek Trail in Yellowstone Country
Once we realized we were on the wrong side of the Cabin Creek for the trailhead. Cabin Creek Trail. Not wishing to hike with wet feet (I know wising out). Finished reading the rest of the information signs, hiked out to US-287 and crossed bridge to Cabin Creek Campground Entrance. Cabin Creek Trail transverses the side of very steep mountain along the creek for several miles with a few trail junctions. On trail turn of is to Overlook point about five miles in. Topography of Cabin Creek Trail is fascinating and beautiful with Cabin Creek tumbling past below.
Trail wanders through Cabin Creek Wildlife Management Area and into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness Area (complex). There are multiple area’s in this complex. You could hike onto Lightning Lake, Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky, or even a couple of Petrified Forest Area’s. More to come on that subject. We only hiked in a mile and half on this venture, view our trek in and out Playlist Here.
