Henry Ford Museum Michigan Out of the Past
Henry Ford Museum is located in Michigan is a true monument to a man who is still regaled as being the ultimate innovator for the entire state, not to mention this country. Here awaits a world that you can step into and explore past innovations that, quite literally, fueled the imaginations of generations to come. Being raised in Michigan, I have visit the museum in my youth on several scouting and school trips, or in those days Greenfield Village. On this visit I was heading to the Pere Marquette River for some Brown Trout Fishing.
Henry Ford, for lack of a better word, was a genius. Although best known for building his first experimental car in Detroit in 1896 behind his own house—an ‘experiment’ that later led to the Ford Motor Company producing cars that still fill up 75% of the driveways —Henry Ford also broke through walls in other areas of business and manufacturing.
American Innovations in Detroit
Thousands upon thousands visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Detroit each and every year. They come to immerse themselves in the number of experiences it has to offer. When it comes to the featured exhibits, there are many – from race cars to modular houses – that you can set eyes upon. One of the loveliest to witness is the Davidson-Gerson Modern Glass Gallery, where you can trace Studio Glass from its founding in 1962 to the present-day while staring at the incredible works of various artists.
When it comes to housing and design, visitors can enter the Dymaxion House. Conceived by the visionary architect, R. Buckminster Fuller, this was called the home of the future. Designed to be the strongest yet lightest and most cost-effective house ever built, it is the only prototype remaining in the entire world and sits inside the Henry Ford Museum.

From the pain of the Revolutionary War through the struggle for civil rights, this has been called a ground-breaking exhibit. Focusing on four distinct moments that transformed America: the Revolutionary Era, the Antislavery Movement, and Civil War Era, the Woman’s Suffrage Movement, and the Civil Rights Movement, the exhibit holds iconic artifacts, including the rocking chair Abraham Lincoln was sitting in when he was assassinated. You will, no doubt, be awestruck as you celebrate these people and the courage it took all of them to gain America’s freedom and sustain it.
